A Step Forward toward meeting Cambodia’s ACU Strategic Mandate For Internal Investigation and Recruitment

[Kingston, Ontario]: On Friday, September 13th, 2019, senior staff from Cambodia’s Anti-Corruption Unit graduated from The Backster School of Lie Detection after completing a 10-week basic polygraph course.  All members of the Anti-Corruption Unit met the rigorous standards outlined by the American Polygraph Association (APA), the American Association of Police Polygraphists (AAPP), Canadian Association of Police Polygraphists (CAPP), and the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM).

“In my opinion, the polygraph instrument is essential as we gain not only practical experience at the school, but it enables us to be efficient when using the system for our investigations and recruitment screening for the Anti-Corruption Unit,” says Chheang Dara, Assistant to the ACU.

In addition to receiving mentoring and training from our team of experts in the Safety and Security industry, students can also access other training resources like the Backster linguistic assistance program.  Upon graduation, Backster alumni have the opportunity to select from a number of ongoing remote or onsite field assistance and mentorship programs, all delivered by our experienced team of Backster instructors.

“This is the first time our government sent six people from our organization to learn about polygraph, and we chose Backster because of its prestigious reputation,” stated Ma Soyenda, Assistant to ACU.  “Also, the team at Backster was very supportive in helping us adapt within Kingston by providing food services similar to what we have at home and with cultural tours.”

Their mission as outlined in the Cambodian ACU website states ‘The ACU is challenged with the mandate to conduct anti-corruption in every aspect, level, and sectors in Cambodia nationwide through the means of Education, Prevention, and Obstruction, Law Enforcement and crackdown all corrupt offenses with strong and active participation and cooperation from the public.’ Of which empowering the ACU team with the latest in polygraph technology and training will aid in the facilitation of reducing corruption within both public and private sectors.

“For over 20 years, our company has been an international leader in the manufacturing, development, and production of polygraph equipment and software. It was a natural progression for us to purchase The Backster School of Lie Detection as it is a recognized leader in producing top quality examiners,” states James Brown, President of Limestone Technologies Inc. “We are pleased to be able to enhance our commitment to the safety and security industry by providing a center of excellence which allows our company to offer international agencies with training, equipment, and ongoing mentorship to ensure program success.”
